Paul Brank purchased the family farm in Weaverville,
NC in 1952. He and his wife, Ruth, had 100 head of mother cows, as well
as owned and operated an upholstery shop on the farm. Paul would wean
his calves and feed them to roughly 800 pounds before marketing his calves.
At a young age, Mark began to be active in the farm. He and his dad decided
to change their cattle operation from cow/calf to stocker cattle. This
was over 30 years ago and they are still continuing to stocker calves.
Mr. Paul was born in 1918 and is still very active in decision making,
cattle buying, and the hay operation.
Mark not only stockers cattle, he grows hay for their own operation as
well as markets hay to other producers. He and his dad do most of the
work with some part-time help. Mark has worked to improve their vaccination
program and nutrition program. He is always looking for better and more
innovative ways to do things.
Mark and Pauls goal is to produce better load lots of calves each year.
