Appalachian Cattle Enterprises, LLC

This company is owned and operated by James W. Brown and family with locations in Honea Path, SC and Blountville, TN. Primary business is stocker and backgrounding beef calves.

Mr. Brown grew up on his family farm in East Tennessee which featured an Angus cow/calf herd. After graduating from East Tennessee State University with a degree in Business Management, he moved to Greenville, SC and later purchased a farm in Honea Path, SC. After making some improvements to the farm, a stocker operation was started and evolved into the current business.

The business goal is to provide quality cattle that are prepared to perform well for the customers. All cattle offered for sale have completed a preconditioning period, received appropriate vaccines, and been provided with adequate nutrition. BQA guidelines are followed and the Bud Williams low stress livestock handling methods are used.

Daily care for the cattle is provided by the owner and Mr. Russell Whitt at the Honea Path farm. Mr. Brown's daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Travis King provide care at the Tennessee farm. Russell grew up on a dairy and beef farm. He lives nearby on his own farm where he raises beef cattle. While Michelle was in college she managed the stocker herd in Tennessee and developed appropriate skills necessary for proper animal husbandry.

All land resources are managed for the production of livestock and wildlife habitat. Quail, turkey, deer, birds and other small mammals benefit from the various grazing mixtures planted.

Any questions regarding this operation may be directed to James Brown at 864-350-6281.
